Dr. Abigail Hollenbeck
Dear Haverford Middle School families,
Welcome to Haverford Middle School! Middle school is a unique and exciting time in a child's life, filled with opportunities for growth, discovery, and independence. These years are about so much more than academic achievement. They are about discovering interests, building friendships, developing confidence, and learning who you are and who you want to become. At HMS, we recognize the importance of these middle school years and are committed to helping every student make the most of them.
Our first priority is to create a school community where every student feels safe, valued, and included. We want students to know that they belong at HMS, that their voices matter, and that there are adults who care about their success. We encourage our students to be Ready, Respectful, and Responsible, not simply as school expectations, but as habits that will serve them throughout their lives. We also recognize that growing up means making mistakes. Middle school is a place to take risks, face challenges, learn from setbacks, and try again. Our goal is not perfection, but progress.
We believe some of the most meaningful learning happens beyond the classroom. Whether joining a club, participating in athletics, exploring the arts, taking on a leadership role, or simply trying something new, we encourage every student to find a way to get involved. These experiences help students discover their strengths, build connections, and develop a sense of pride in their school community. We want every student to find something at HMS that makes them excited to come to school each day.
Above all, our goal is to develop curious, confident, and compassionate lifelong learners. We want our students to leave HMS not only with a strong academic foundation, but also with the resilience to overcome challenges, the courage to ask questions, and the confidence to advocate for themselves and others. We know that this work is most successful when schools and families work together, and we value your partnership throughout these important years.
Go Fords!
